Logorama by H5

If you need a break during the day take a 15 minute time out and watch the short film Logorama, an animation film done purely with logos. It’s quite funny and without unveiling too much I can definetely say that the choice of villain in this action packed police drama is spot on! I also love the originality of how the logos are introduced, notice Nickelodeon and Metro Goldwyn Mayer! It’s briliant!

This is a short film that was directed by the French animation collective H5, François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy + Ludovic Houplain. It was presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2009. It opened the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and won a 2010 academy award under the category of animated short.

In this film there are two pieces of licensed music, in the beginning and in the end. All the other music and sound design are original. The opening track (Dean Martin "Good Morning Life") and closing track (The Ink Spots "I don't want to send the world on fire") songs are licensed pre-existing tracks. All original music and sound design is by, human  (

Half a World Away

I love travel photos and videos. Learning about new places through people’s perspective and experiences is beyond captivating. I’ve shared a fair amount of my travel shot on www.facebook.com/gale.molema & http://75.co.za/morolong/

I also enjoy watching my friend's travel mini-documentaries, so here’s one to brighten up Tuesday, for those in rainy Johannesburg! Matt Ferrington spent six months backpacking throughout South East Asia and these photos and footage is a nice collection of his experiences.

In 2011, he spent six months backpacking throughout South East Asia with two friends. They visited Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia and Indonesia. The trip saw them take on many challenges and partake in a range of exciting new activities. This video highlights some of the best moments and experiences of our trip.

Art Directors Club Call For Entries

The Art Directors Club, the premier organization for creatives in integrated media and the first global creative collective of its kind, has announced a lively new campaign by DDB New York to promote the call for entries for the ADC 91st Annual Awards

The integrated campaign, launching online at www.adcawards.org and through a global print mailing on November 1, encourages creative teams around the world to "Keep fighting the good fight" despite obstacles to creating great work.

DDB, serving as the club's creative partner for the ADC 91st Annual Awards, developed all aspects of the campaign strategy and execution. The agency worked with Finnish illustrator Rami Niemi to design artwork for nine CFE posters and postcards showing humorous situations in modern day advertising that illustrate the impediments and obstacles to creating great work.

Above are humorous posters of situations in modern day advertising.

The posters include headlines such as "I think we should schedule a meeting" overlaying a visual of a meeting already in progress. Another poster, depicting a photo shoot for a can of unbranded tuna, has a client stating, "I want it to be Irving Penn meets Helmut Newton."

The agency also tapped renowned comedian Lewis Black, famous for his idiosyncratic comedy style, to create an original rant recording for the campaign. The animated rant video features Black channeling his inner advertising creative and fuming about the pressures of agency life with double-edged witticisms such as, "Comedy routines are developed over lifetimes. Movie scripts are crafted over years. But a compelling message to woo consumers into a buying frenzy… Yeah, we're gonna need that by three o'clock." The agency has also created online banner advertising that will appear on leading advertising and design industry sites.

"DDB New York went above and beyond the call of duty to give us a truly integrated campaign," said Olga Grisaitis, director, ADC. "Creatives will relate to the portrayal of the challenges they face each day in the creative process."

"We wanted to give a nod to all the pain and suffering that every creative person goes through in order to produce a great idea," said Matt Eastwood, chief creative officer, DDB New York. "From getting the idea through the account team to the client meeting to the final production, there are so many hurdles and so many casualties. We wanted to encourage creatives to 'Keep fighting the good fight' because in the end, an ADC Cube makes it all worthwhile."
